Coach Gary
Gary Cassera has had a racket or paddle in his hand since he was five years old. He started his journey as a coach running youth summer tennis camps during his high school years and hasn't looked back. With three decades of coaching experience, Gary remains as passionate about helping all players reach their goals as when he started. Whether your passion is to take down Margaret and Myrtle in open play, or make a run at the pro tour, he can help you enjoy the game while improving rapidly.
After competing in college tennis for four years, Gary continued his coaching career with both junior and adult player development. At the age of 23, he became a high-performance tennis coach with the United States Tennis Association, a great honor. Gary was responsible for guiding the early education of top juniors on the East Coast. This experience, along with early mentoring by top coaches, has provided him the opportunity to share decades of knowledge on important topics like biomechanics for injury prevention, mental toughness, skill acquisition, and game strategy, offering faster results to players—all while having fun.
Gary enjoys the variety of athletic talents that pickleball showcases from different sports. With his 5-step system, players learn how to become their own coach, where to focus their attention, how to create their own drills, and much more.
